Isolated photons in deep inelastic scattering.
Photon radiation at large transverse momenta at colliders is a detailed probe of hard interaction dynamics. The isolated photon production cross section in deep inelastic scattering was measured recently by the ZEUS experiment, and found to be considerably larger than theoretical predictions obtained with widely used event generators. To investigate this discrepancy, we perform a dedicated part...
متن کاملProduction of Isolated Photons in Deep Inelastic Scattering
We present here the predictions obtained from a calculation of the inclusive isolated photon production cross section in deep inelastic scattering. The results are compared with the cross section measurement of the ZEUS collaboration and found in good agreement with all aspects of it. Furthermore, a way of measuring the quark-to-photon fragmention function in DIS is also briefly outlined.
متن کاملT photons in deep inelastic scattering
First measurements of cross sections for isolated prompt photon production in deep inelastic ep scattering have been made using the ZEUS detector at the HERA electron-proton collider using an integrated luminosity of 121 pb. A signal for isolated photons in the transverse energy and rapidity ranges 5 < E T < 10GeV and −0.7 < η < 0.9 was observed for virtualities of the exchanged photon of Q > 3...
متن کاملResolved Photons and Bfkl-type Signatures in Deep Inelastic Scattering
The concept of resolved virtual photons in addition to direct deep inelastic ep scattering is used to simulate the 2 + 1 jet-rate and the forward jet cross section, which cannot be described by direct LO/NLO processes. With standard DGLAP evolution of the parton densities of the virtual photon and the proton the HERA data can be described, provided a sufficiently large scale for the hard scatte...
متن کاملDeep Inelastic Scattering with Tagged Photons at HERA
We calculate cross-sections for neutral current deep inelastic scattering at HERA with photon tagging. Both, the exact lowest-order cross-section and a leading logarithmic approximation of next-order corrections are calculated. The latter amounts to less than 20% in a large kinematical range. The integrations are performed numerically but without relying on Monte Carlo methods. Supported by the...
